Our philosophy

Not a pool. A living ecosystem.

Most "natural pools" are built to look like nature while staying as sterile as a chlorinated one. We build the real thing.

How it works

Two zones, one system

Every BioPond is divided into two connected areas: a swimming zone, kept clear and open, and a regeneration zone — planted with reeds, sedges and water lilies — where the real work happens.

Water moves slowly between the two. As it passes through gravel and root systems, beneficial bacteria and plants strip out the nutrients that would otherwise feed algae. No nutrients, no green water — without a drop of chlorine.

It's the same process that keeps a mountain stream clear. We simply build the conditions for it on your property.

Life finds its way in

Fish and a little algae are a good sign

Many natural pool builders treat any algae as a fault to be engineered away. We see it differently: a touch of natural algae and a healthy population of fish, frogs and dragonflies are exactly what a balanced ecosystem looks like.

Your BioPond won't look like a chlorinated rectangle with plants around the edge — it will look, feel and behave like a pond. Because it is one. And you can still dive in, swim laps, or simply float and watch the water move.

The difference

BioPond vs. the usual "natural pool"

  Typical "natural pool" BioPond
Goal Looks natural, behaves like a chlorine-free pool A genuine pond ecosystem you can also swim in
Water Engineered to stay crystal clear, algae-free Clear and healthy — with natural seasonal variation
Wildlife Generally discouraged or filtered out Fish, frogs and dragonflies are part of the design
Construction Pre-engineered systems & imported components Designed and built on site, shaped to your land
Common questions

Before you dive in

Is it safe to swim in?

Yes. The same biological processes that keep a healthy river or stream clean keep a well-designed BioPond clean — without the skin and eye irritation that comes with chlorine.

What about mosquitoes?

A BioPond with moving water and a healthy population of fish, frogs and dragonfly larvae is inhospitable to mosquitoes, which need still water to breed.

How much maintenance does it need?

Less than a chlorinated pool. Expect occasional pruning of plants and removal of leaves and debris — no daily chemical testing or dosing.

Can an existing pool be converted?

In many cases, yes. We can talk through whether your existing pool and surrounding space are suited to a conversion, or whether a new build makes more sense.
